This significant sponsorship continues the CCF’s mission to bring world-class dance to the Eastern Shore community and make the arts accessible to all. Ailey II, the acclaimed junior company of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater from New York City, is celebrated for its electrifying performances and dynamic young dancers who carry forward the pioneering spirit of Alvin Ailey.

The performance drew a large audience, providing a vital opportunity for local students, dance enthusiasts, and community members to witness the power of professional contemporary dance. The CCF’s commitment to this event highlights the Fund’s dedication to connecting audiences with exceptional artistic experiences and fostering a greater appreciation for the performing arts.

Michael Bell, Supervisor for Instruction for Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) stated, “Bringing Ailey II, an internationally renowned company, to the Todd Performing Arts Center is a dream come true for our community. This event embodies the spirit of the Carole Cascio Fund—celebrating movement, promoting cultural enrichment, and inspiring the next generation of dancers and art lovers right here on the Eastern Shore.”

Three company members from the Ailey II arrived early to teach a masterclass of Alvin Ailey technique to 50 students from the local community. It was an amazing opportunity for students to experience the Ailey technique directly from the company dancers.

After the Open Rehearsal, Francesca Harper, the Artistic Director of Ailey II moderated a Q and a session with 11 company dancers. They engaged in a lively and fun Q&A session with over 200 audience members who attended the free performance.

Michael Bell was gracious enough to record an edition of his ArtScene podcast. He interviewed company dancers and a variety of people involved with the production and the masterclass.
