Dancers came from many different schools in the area. Queen Anne’s County High School dancers were represented, as well as the Mid Shore Dance Academy in Centerville, To The Pointe Studio in Ridgely, New Motions Dance Center in Cambridge, Baltimore School of the Arts, Kent County High School, Centerville Middle School and homes schooled dancers were welcomed.
Lorraine’s ballet class was something new for most of the dancers. It was a challenging class and her approach was straightforward, very clear and she encouraged the dancers to move across the floor with a sense of purpose.
Amy’s modern class was energetic and fast moving with a variety of movement styles that were directly from Paul Taylor’s choreography that she danced while she was a member of the world renowned dance company. Amy was enthusiastic and encouraged the dancers to have fun moving to upbeat variety of music played by accompanist Joann Moorer.
Adrienne Kraus Latanishen was equally energetically and encouraging as she taught the dancers a new hip-hop routine to hip-hop music. Adrienne’s been one of our consistent teachers through all the Days of Dance events. A lot of the dancers had the opportunity to work with Adrienne at other CCF events and they were happy to be back in class with her.
Renee shared her composition expertise with the dancers as they explored elements of choreography individually and in small groups. The dancers combined the phrases into their own unique movement studies. Renee randomly assigned music to the studies and a variety of surprises were created with her spontaneous approach to creating choreography.
It was a very fun filled and action-packed day for all of the dancers who enjoyed the amazing opportunities to work with these highly regarded and experienced professional guest artist instructors.
