Carole Cascio Fund’s Team Teaches Three Movement Classes at Queen Anne’s County High School for Chorus Students and Dancers

On September 18 at Queen Anne’s County High School(QACHS), Carole Cascio Fund’s (CCF) Executive Director Peter Pucci, CCF Teaching Artist Adrienne Kraus Latanishen and CCF Intern Gaby Pfeifer team taught two of Luke Whitehair’s Chorus classes. Luke requested that CCF come in and teach some movement classes to his students in an effort to get them connected, feel comfortable moving and working together as a class.

The CCF team taught both classes and the students had a lot a fun and  the sessions were very lively. All the of students participated in the exercises. Luke also participated to the surprise of his students.

Luke was extremely pleased with their effort and their participation and felt that the sessions were very successful!

 

Later in the afternoon Adrienne taught a vigorous hip-hop class to the dancers that included a variety of classic hip-hop moves. The dancers  never had the opportunity to work with her and it was easy to see that they thoroughly enjoyed her class. Gabby joined in the class and it was great having her participating. Dance teacher Kristen Tyler was very appreciative to have Adrienne back teaching again at QACHS.

Overall, it was a wonderful day of movement classes for the students.

Following this vibrant opening, Queen Anne’s County Public Schools (QACPS) hosted a dynamic Professional Development Day at Queen Anne’s County High School, featuring an inspiring movement and dance workshop led by visiting guest teacher Karen Eubanks. Coordinated through a collaboration between Michael Bell, QACPS Supervisor of Instruction for Visual & Performing Arts, and Peter Pucci, Executive Director of the Carole Cascio Fund (CCF), the session brought innovative arts-integration and somatic movement practices to local educators.

Our Carole Cascio Teaching Artists Adrienne Kraus Latanishen, Amy Young Kleinendorst, Gabby Pfeifer and Sylvia Soumah share their artistry with students of all ages

This year, four Carole Cascio Foundation Teaching Artists brought their unique artistry into classrooms across the Eastern Shore, from musical theater and Paul Taylor technique to West African rhythm and social dance history. Adrienne Kraus Latanishen, Amy Young-Kleinendorst, Gabby Pfeifer, and Sylvia Soumah each shared their craft with students of all ages and experience levels, leaving a lasting impact on the young dancers they taught.
