CCF Teaching Artist Adrienne Kraus Latanishen taught a number of Hip Hop classes this fall in the Queen Anne’s County Public Schools and will choreograph at QACHS this Spring.

In August Carole Cascio Fund’s (CCF) Teaching Artist Adrienne Kraus Latanishen started her third year working for CCF visiting with Queen Annes County Public School (QACPS) teachers at their Personal Development day. In collaboration with Michael Bell, the Supervisor for Instruction for QCAPS, Adrienne represented CCF and discussed many dance possibilities and opportunities for the CCF to support free dance and movement classes in QAC high schools and middle schools.

Chorus teacher Luke Whitehair and a few middle school teachers approached Adrienne about the possibility of CCF supporting movement classes for the chorus students and hip-hop classes for students at the middle schools.

In September CCF coordinated with the teachers and provided movement classes to chorus students at QACHS and a combined hip-hop class with QACHS and Centreville Middle School students.

Next up for Adrienne was choreographing the opening number for Chesapeake College’s 3rd annual production of the Harvest Horror show directed by Rob Thompson, Director of Drama Department at the college. This was the third time CCF has co-sponsored choreography for Chesapeake Colleges drama productions. This successful collaboration aligns with CCF’s mission to bring movement and dance to the college. Adrienne is a seasoned professional choreographer and movement director, she worked with dancers and non-dancers on all these productions.

In December Adrienne taught after school hip-hop classes at all four middle schools in Queen Annes County. CCF Intern Gabby Pfeifer  assisted Adrienne in each class. Over the course of one week, they visited each middle school in county. The students had a fun time and thoroughly enjoyed the classes.

This spring, Adrienne will be choreographing a new Hip Hop dance to classical music for the newly formed QACHS Dance Company.

Adrienne’s residency at QACHS will span the spring semester with weekly visits. She will be coordinating her rehearsals with Kristen Tyler Director of Dance at QACHS.
