CCF acquires a donated Dance Floor from the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater in NYC for the Dance Program at Queen Anne’s County High School

Executive Director Peter Pucci had been reaching out to many of his contacts in New York City (NYC) to see if any of his colleagues in the field had a used dance floor for sale. His old friend Greg Stuart, who is the company manager for the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT) looked into it and apparently they did have a used floor.

Greg graciously arranged for the floor to be donated to CCF. All that was needed was for someone to pick up the floor at the Ailey warehouse in New Jersey and load it into an SUV.

On Feb 19,2025 Peter arrived at Queen Anne’s County High School(QACHS) from New Jersey with a used gray dance floor.

Joe Gaito the Technical Director for AAADT instructed Peter on how to properly clean the floor before using it. With the help of Tim Robinson, the lead janitor at QACHS, CCF Assistant Teaching Artist Gabby Pfeifer, Dance Teacher Kristen Tyler and her son Sam along with dancer Savanna Vega they set about cleaning and preparing the floor. By the end of the day the dance floor looked brand new and was ready for CCF’s 6th Day of Dance on Saturday, February 22 at John F. Andrews Performing Art Center at QACHS. Many thanks to our friends at the AAADT for arranging for the donation of the dance floor. The dancers at QACHS were thrilled have a professional grade dance floor at the high school!

Coordinated through a collaboration between Michael Bell, QACPS Supervisor of Instruction for Visual & Performing Arts, and Peter Pucci, Executive Director of the Carole Cascio Fund (CCF), the session brought innovative arts-integration and somatic movement practices to local educators.

This year, four Carole Cascio Foundation Teaching Artists brought their unique artistry into classrooms across the Eastern Shore, from musical theater and Paul Taylor technique to West African rhythm and social dance history. Adrienne Kraus Latanishen, Amy Young-Kleinendorst, Gabby Pfeifer, and Sylvia Soumah each shared their craft with students of all ages and experience levels, leaving a lasting impact on the young dancers they taught.

Wye Mills, Sunday, May 3rd At the Todd Performing Arts Center (TPAC) at Chesapeake College, the Carole Carole Cascio Fund and TPAC Director, Rob Thompson, hosted a cultural enriching free performance, a World Day of Dance. The World Day of Dance featured Guest Artists and Directors, Deepti Mukund from Natyaboohmi School of Dance, Rose Xinran Qi from RoseQi Dance Arts, and Sylvia Soumah from Coyaba Dance Theater.The scholarship ensures that future generations of CCBC Dance Company members have access to the necessary training, artistic development, and performance opportunities they need to thrive. Since its inception, one to two Dance Company members have been selected each year to receive the scholarship.
