Day of Dance Guest Artist Bios
Lorraine Audeoud Spiegler – Ballet
Ms. Spiegler began dancing at age 7 at The Washington School of Ballet under Mary Day. She was invited at age 13 and 14 by Artistic Director Frederic Franklin to join the east coast tour of The National Ballet Company’s “Nutcracker” and “Giselle” productions in corps de ballet roles. At 15, she graduated from Emerson Institute and was accepted to the Mariinsky School in the USSR. She also studied on scholarship at The Harkness Ballet School and with Margaret Craske, Cecchetti Master at the Manhattan School of Dance. Spiegler danced in Laura Dean’s premiere of “Song” as part of Dean’s workshopped company explorations. Spiegler also studied with Twla Tharp and was selected for Mark Morris’ and Carolyn Carlson’s Choreography Workshops at Harvard as well as in workshops with Merce Cunningham, Erick Hawkins, Paul Taylor and Jose Limon companies for several summers learning signature technique and professional company repertory. Spiegler’s interests in pedagogy, kinesiology, dance history/anthropology, neuroscience, and artistic expression began to overshadow her performance interests.
Amy Young– Modern
Amy (Young) Kleinendorst began her dance training at the age of ten in her hometown near Seattle, Washington. After graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan, she went on to receive a BFA from The Juilliard School. Ms. Kleinendorst joined Taylor 2 soon after and made her debut as a member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company at the Paris Opera House in January of 2000. She is also a founding member of TAKE Dance Company (2004-2010). Throughout her 17 year career, Ms.Kleinendorst taught master classes, residencies, intensives and workshops all over the world and continues to do so. Since retiring from the stage in 2013, she has also begun to share Paul’s work by setting his pieces at St. Paul’s School, Interlochen Arts Academy, The Citadel Dance and Music Center, Boston Conservatory, University of Wyoming, University of Arizona, and Point Park University. She has been on faculty at The Taylor School in NYC where she taught weekly youth classes as well as professional level classes. Amy and her husband Robert, a fellow Paul Taylor Dancer moved to Severna Park in 2021. Amy is currently an adjunct professor at Towson University and teaches weekly classes at the Severna Park Community Center.
Renee Gerardo – Composition/Choreography
Renee’s first dances premiered in her living room and since then she moved on to create work that has been shown in Michigan, Colorado, North Carolina, New York and Maryland. She was born in, and grew up on the Missisauga and Anishinabewaki people’s land, also known as Midland, Michigan, creating and performing under the guidance of Linda Z. Smith. She has since worked with many inspirational guides such as Nancy Spanier, Alexandra Beller, Martha Myers, Kathleen Hermesdorf, Kendra Portier, David Dorfman, and Adriane Fang. She also performed in works by David Dorfman Dance, Sean Currán, Dance Exchange, and Monica Bill Barnes. Renee was a principal performer with The Moving Architects, white road/dance media and April Biggs as well as one half of The Achievements with Jenny Pommiss. Eighteen years ago, in NYC she formed Renee Gerardo/ Dances, her work being featured at Triskelion Arts (NYC), Brooklyn Arts Exchange, WAX Works (NYC), and Spoke the Hub. She has also shown work at Movement Research/Open Performance and Dance Theater Workshop as part of The Kitchen’s Emerging Artist Program and was chosen to show work as part of the “I Heart Gibney” 25th Anniversary Show at Gibney Dance Center. During her NYC dancing journey, she became involved in triathlon for several years, racing and coaching and competing in Ironman, Half -Ironman, marathons, and the Ironman World Championships. A big believer in the intelligence and wonders of the body, she has been a Pilates teacher for 19 years and a MELT Method Instructor. Renee continues to create work in the DMV area where she now resides after receiving her MFA at UMD. Her recent evening length work, “telepathic maps” was presented in Spring of 2021 at University of Maryland.
Adrienne Kraus Latanishen – Hip Hop
Adrienne is a professional dancer, choreographer, and educator from Baltimore, Maryland. She is proud to have graduated with honors from The Community College of Baltimore County with her A.A. in Dance and The University of Maryland where she also graduated with honors with her B.A. in Dance. She dances professionally for Trajectory Dance Project, Molly Jean Kirkup Heer, and independently for herself. Previously, she also danced for BlueShift Dance (principal dancer), The Collective (dancer, choreographer, educator), B3W of New York City, Andary Dance (soloist, principal dancer), and withhart.dance.projects (founding member, assistant director, soloist, principal dancer).
She’s been cast in two music videos by local artists, one of which she also choreographed, as well as a commercial for MAEV dog food. Adrienne was Director of Dance at St. Timothy’s School, a private and boarding school for girls and she choreographed as Artist in Residence at Patapsco High School and Center for the Arts for numerous years. Each semester she is excited to choreograph for the CCBC Dance Company. In all, she has been teaching for 20 years at rec councils, studios, public and private schools, colleges, and other organizations. Recently, Adrienne choreographed for The Salem Players Theatre Company, Northeast High School, and Baltimore Composers Forum for several performances. In addition, she is honored to serve Baltimore County as a member on the Baltimore County Commission on Arts and Sciences.
Joann Moorer – Accompanist for the Ballet and Modern Classes
Joann Moorer has a rich professional background in teaching and accompanying. She plays for Ballet classes for the Dance Department at Community College of Baltimore County at the Essex Campus where she also teaches private voice and piano lessons for the Continuing Education Department. Joann has earned music degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude, and the Peabody Conservatory of Johns Hopkins University. She has taught piano and voice as a member of the Applied Music Faculty at Garrison Forest School, Owings Mills since 2012. She is also Organist and Minister of Music at First English Lutheran Church in Baltimore City. Joann will play for the Ballet and Modern Dance Classes.
