November 10th was the official unveiling of the new Carole Drake Cascio Dance Studios East and West and the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the Wellness and Athletics Center at CCBC Essex. The Wellness and Athletics Center ceremony preceded the unveiling with Peter Pucci and Dr. Kurtinaitis, the President of the Community College of Baltimore County. The two new Essex Campus dance studios in Carole’s name are state of the art and beautiful. The new dance studios were officially sanctioned by the National Dance Association.

There were many friends of Carole’s in attendance especially a lot of former dancers, and dance company directors who worked closely with Carole. There were also former members of the Dimension Dance Media company that Carole founded in 1974 as well as members of the CCBC Dance Company that performed a spirited dance for the occasion. It was a joyous occasion on many levels. The new dance studios are simply amazing, everything that dancers or choreographers could dream of.

The current Director of the Dance Program at CCBC, Melinda Blomquist oversaw the construction and worked closely with the contractor from start to finish to ensure all that all of the special details for the dance studios were considered an executed properly.

There are so many people to thank who helped make this dream of naming the new studios after Carole Drake Cascio come true. Friends of Carole’s, people who worked with Carole, dancers who trained with Carole, so many people believed in her artistry and her dedication to the art form. Carole was on staff for 27 years at CCBC Essex and started the program from its inception and now the program is coming up on its 50th anniversary in the spring of 2024. So many people who were a part of the program and helped build it thought it was appropriate to name the new dance studios after Carole and to honor her legacy to dance program.

A very special thanks to one and all!
