CCF Sponsors a Field Trip by QACHS dancers to see CCF Teaching Artist Adrienne Kraus Latanishen’s new Hip-Hop Dance at CCBC Essex

On April 3, 2025, the Carole Cascio Fund (CCF) arranged for dance students from Queen Anne’s County High School (QACHS) to attend a dance concert by the CCBC Dance Company at the Essex campus of the Community College of Baltimore County. The students were accompanied by Kristen Tyler, Director of Dance at QACHS, Adrienne Kraus Latanishen, CCF Teaching Artist, and Gabby Pfeifer, CCF Associate Teaching Artist.

Melinda Blomquist, Director of the Dance Program at CCBC, welcomed the students at the F. Scott Black Theatre. The concert showcased new works by CCBC faculty, alumni, and guest artists. Notably, CCF’s Adrienne Kraus Latanishen choreographed a dynamic hip-hop piece called “Ping Pong Pinball Free for All,” set to music by Ella Fitzgerald. The QACHS dancers were particularly excited to see Adrienne’s finished work, as she had been simultaneously developing a modified version of the same piece with the QACHS Dance Company during her CCF-sponsored residency. It was an invaluable educational experience for them to see the college dancers perform the same choreography they were learning.

The concert featured a diverse range of newly created dances, each reflecting the unique perspective of its choreographer. The students thoroughly enjoyed the program and had a wonderful time. They also had the opportunity to participate in a post-performance question and answer session with the CCBC dancers, moderated by Artistic Director Melinda Blomquist.
