Amy Young- Kleinendorst, our new CCF Teaching Artist and former member of the Paul Taylor Dance Company arranged with company management for the masterclass and the opportunity for students to watch a rehearsal.

Amy worked closely with Alex Clayton to facilitate the Paul Taylor style master class for the students. Alex taught a lively, fun and exciting class for the students. Alex was terrific and the students were able to engage firsthand with the Paul Taylor technique with a current member of the company.
After class the students were able to have lunch in the Kennedy Center. They were able to wander around, take in an exhibit about the Kennedy Center and visit the gift shop. It was truly a unique experience for the students to be at the Center.

Then the students were able to watch two of choreographer Paul Taylor’s iconic dances, Esplanade and Arden Court. It was a real behind the scenes tech rehearsal that the students watched with starts and stops and then run throughs of the dances. Amy and Alex also took the opportunity to have a Q&A with the students during a break in the rehearsal process. It was another amazing unforgettable day for the students!

CCF Executive Director Peter Pucci, CCF Trustee Ann Karwacki Goodman and CCF Advisor/Executive Director of Chesapeake Charities Linda Kohler were also in attendance to watch the rehearsal.
