CCF Supports a Special Combined Hip-Hop Class for QACHS Dancers and Centreville Middle School Students

The Carole Cascio Fund’s Teaching Artist Adrienne Klaus Latanishen was brought in to teach a special combined Hip Hop master class for Queen Anne’s County High School (QACHS) dancers with students from Centreville Middle School (CMS). Michael Bell, Supervisor of Instruction for QACPS and Carole Cascio Fund Executive Director Peter Pucci worked closely with QACHS Dance Teacher Kristen Tyler to help coordinate so CMS and QACHS students could participate in the combined Hip-Hop class. The class was conceived to help funnel interested dance students into the dance program at QACHS directed by Ms. Tyler. CMS Principal Tracy Kenna coordinated with Ms. Tyler and put together 30 interested students. Principal Kenna worked out all the necessary the details with choir teacher Lucas O’ Farrell Principal Kenna walked the students over from CMS to the high school and met Ms. Tyler in the high school’s large dance studio. Adrienne prepared a vigorous class and worked with all the students together. She also worked individually with the middle school students and the high school students so they could watch each other and learn from each other. The CMS students were very excited and happy they could participate in the master class with the high school dancers. It was a lively and fun atmosphere with over 45 students combined in the class. After the class was over Ms. Tyler took a poll to see how many CMS students were interested in the dance and the athletic movement classes. There was an enthusiastic and positive response from a large number of students to participate in the dance and movement classes.
