We are excited to share that she was selected as the first recipient of the Carole Drake Cascio Dance Scholarship at
the Community College of Baltimore County – Essex Campus
Congratulations! On behalf of Melinda Blomquist the Dance Program Coordinator at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) and the Carole Cascio Fund. We are excited to share that Sarah Harris has been selected as the first recipient of the Carole Drake Cascio Dance Scholarship.

We are pleased that Sara was offered this financial aid award. Sarah was also one of our scholarship recipients to attend the renowned American Dance Festival this past summer in Durham, North Carolina
Melinda said, “We are grateful to have her in our program and for the opportunity to watch her continue to grow as an artist and an amazing individual. Sarah is thoughtful in class and reflects on what she is learning in a manner that demonstrates that she has made connections between what she is learning and doing in different courses and rehearsals. She is willing to put in the work needed to help bring a choreographer’s intention to life and to contribute to the rehearsal process with thoughtful questions and feedback about the work. I have seen her rise to the challenge with her dancing and finding her artistry.”
Also please join us in congratulating Melinda Blomquist, the CCBC Dance Program Coordinator, on being the 2024 Maryland Dance Education Association Teacher of the Year: Higher Education Award recipient.
This is an exceptional honor and one that is well-deserved. CCF is thankful for her ongoing commitment to the dance program. CCF is proud to have Melinda as a collaborator with the Fund and we feel fortunate to have her at CCBC carrying on Carole’s legacy as a director of the program and the Dance Company.
